SAMSUNG ON THE OFFENSIVE (AGAIN): GALAXY EXPRESS

SAMSUNG ON THE OFFENSIVE (AGAIN): GALAXY EXPRESS

Good early evening, Synapse Circuit Readers... I hope that you are keeping warm! Here in London it’s not too bad – it’s starting to warm up a bit!

I can tell you what’s hot right now and that’s Samsung! Samsung has just about every tech media on tenterhooks anticipating the Galaxy SIV and Note III. Samsung’s rivals are releasing their products ahead of the SIV big reveal in order to get a look in... This time around the competition came prepared! However, keen to take advantage of the growing LTE market Samsung has released the Galaxy Express!

WHOOSH!

Aaah, LTE speed... ...hence ‘Express’. HTC, I hope you are taking notice of the logical naming convention that Samsung deploys for its devices.

Samsung are in there like a shot! In the UK LTE is in its infancy and the costs is rather high. I welcome the fast download speeds but I don’t welcome my cash being downloaded faster than I am able to cope with! A good solution is to produce a budget conscious LTE handset. Again, Samsung aims to pick up the slack left by the more expensive handsets. It just so happens that I am with EE through being on the Orange network and maybe I can upgrade to an affordable LTE package with the Express... We’ll see...

Hmmm... Good specs... If you are a ‘Tech-Spec-Junky’ you’ll know that the Galaxy Express is the SIII mini with muscles. You can play full HD video but you can only record it at 720p. I guess you can’t have everything.

PRICING & AVAILABILITY

There were no details on price and it is expected to go on the UK market in the first half of this year. Hmmm... I think we’ll see it next month; it’s going to challenge the 5” big guns for those who can do without recording full HD video just to experience LTE!

Or alternatively, it’ll come after the release of the Galaxy SIV which is expected in April. I would guess that’ll be a June release. The price would probably be in the region of £26 on LTE and £20 on 3G.

So, if you are in the market for an inexpensive LTE Android handset then this could be it!
